Central Administration

The Central Administration Department is the secretariat of the Upper West Akim District Assembly and is responsible for the provision of support services, effective and efficient general administration and organization of the District Assembly. The Central Administration Department is headed by the District Co-ordinating Director.

The Department is responsible for managing all sections of the assembly including; Records, Estate, Transport, Procurement, Accounts, Stores, Security, Management Information Systems and Human Resource Management.

The Department also coordinates the;

  • General administrative functions
  • Development planning and management functions
  • Budgeting functions
  • Rating functions
  • Statistics and information services, and
  • Human Resource Planning and Development of the District Assembly.

DISTRICT PLANNING AND COORDINATION UNIT (DPCU)
The DPCU is responsible for coordinating, monitoring preparation, implementation and appraisals of development plans of the Upper West Akim District Assembly.It is headed by the District Planning Officer.

HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT (H.R.D)
This Human Resource Department is in charge of the career development and training, staff welfare and personnel functions of the office. It has training and Development and Personnel and Welfare sections and it is headed by Human Resource Manager.

MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (M.I.S)
The M.I.S Unit is responsible for the deployment of Information and Communication Technologies to increasing the Assembly’s operational efficiencies and enhancing Service delivery.

INTERNAL AUDIT UNIT
The primary objective of Internal Audit function in the Assembly is to assist management in the effective discharge of their responsibilities. The scope of the IAU’s work is to determine whether the Assembly’s network of risk management, control and governance processes, as designed and presented by management, is adequate and functioning.

Our Mission Creation of awareness of government policies, programmes and activities, promoting Ghana’s international marketing agenda, providing public relations support to other Ministries, Departments and Agencies and submitting feedback reports from the public. Our Vision The vision of the Department is to establish a responsive two-way channel of communication between the government and the people to proactively and readily assist the government’s investment promotion and development programmes towards good governance.
